Zeena, a label devoted to the exploration and evolution of Arabic electronic music, announces the upcoming release of its second EP, 'Dihya’.
Founded in 2022 by Yaron Amor, a prominent figure in Tel Aviv's Electronic Music scene, Zeena, meaning 'beauty' in Moroccan, is a label and steadfast advocate for pushing the boundaries of musical genres while honoring their distinct origins.
The labels forthcoming 002 release, "Dihya," is a collaboration between label boss Amor and drummer Aviv Ezra, a luminary in the new wave of electronic Arabic music. The single intricately weaves together Arabic rhythms with techno and jungle elements, while live drums and vintage synthesizers mix traditional tones with modern electronic finesse.
In a striking twist, Yaron and Aviv have invited a selection of their favourite artists to reimagine "Dihya" through their unique sonic lenses.
Mani Festo – Known for his mastery in the realm of bass and jungle and for releases on Hooversound and Swamp 81. The UK artist lends his touch to the first of the remixes, embracing the live drums he melds them with a powerful bass kick, creating a dance between earth-shaking pulses and ethereal Arabic strings.
Tal Fussman – An artist already making waves with releases on Innervisions, Fussman infuses the track with his signature touch. The percussive elements and strings harmonize playfully, while a robust kick drum forms the backbone of his remix.
dgoHn – A trailblazer in the Drum and Bass arena, consistently pushing things to the next level, the Rephlex artist's interpretation of "Dihya" transforms the track into a hazy and futuristic soundscape where jungle drums entwine with stripped-down melodic components.
The "Dihya" EP showcases Zeena's dedication to fostering a dialogue between diverse musical traditions, culminating in a harmonious convergence of cultures. The label continues to fulfill its mission of exploring fresh territories in the world of electronic music.
